Announcement: New Schedule!

Hi everyone,

I thought I’d take today to introduce my new blogging schedule. In the hopes of producing something that I am proud of and that I will actually stick to, I have created some new blog post ideas that I will post on particular days of the week. Hopefully this will mean I’m not gone for such a long time as I have a structure to adhere to. It also means I can schedule posts easier as I know deadlines. Anyway, here is the schedule for the foreseeable future.

Review Tuesdays

Here I will review a book that I have read and give my honest opinion on it. Pretty much a generic review really, I can’t really say any more.

Education Thursdays

This is where I will write about something I have learnt or something that generally interests me. I am aiming to provide educational content with amusing stories to accompany it.

Cat Mom Saturdays (or Caturdays)

I’m getting kittens tomorrow, so from now on I will write a blog post every Saturday to update everyone on their progress and show off pictures of my new babies. If anyone wants to see a sneaky preview I’ve posted a picture on my twitter!

I really hope that I stick to this schedule as previously I have found it difficult to keep up with the level of work needed to maintain a blog.

Erin 🙂

Here’s an update of all the things that have been going on this week!

Reading: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I’m still reading it, I’ve been so busy this week and it is massive.

Listening to: Vessel by Twenty One Pilots because I saw them live yesterday!

Watching: Nothing 😦 I’ve been too busy to watch TV this week.

Wearing: A cool new pinafore dress that I bought off of depop.

Enjoying: The fact that I got told I look like Taylor Swift!

Looking forward to: Only having to work two shifts next week!

Here’s an update of all the things that have been going on this week!

Reading: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. It was recommended to me by a lovely man in Waterstones who fangirled to me about it for ages. I’m really enjoying it so far.

Listening to: 1989 by Taylor Swift. See my review here!

Watching: Criminal Minds. The new season just started in the UK and I’m obsessed again. Also on my currently watching list are Gotham and Agents of SHIELD.

Wearing: My second-hand knitted jumper that I got from a charity shop last week. I’ve literally worn it for 4 days oops.

Enjoying: My awesome Wonder Woman scrunchie that I bought from comic con! I keep getting compliments on it.

Looking forward to: Seeing Twenty One Pilots next week. They are one of my favourite bands so I am really excited.

Yes, I have a gun

If you know me, you know that I love conventions. I started going to them about a year ago after admiring from afar and have been hooked ever since. This year I tried something new. I cosplayed.

It was something that I’ve always wanted to do and thanks to Chloe I was able to create a Merida costume! She’s the one dressed as Rapunzel, she made the dress herself. ‘We decided to go as ‘Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons’ mainly because Chloe and I really wanted to dress up as princesses. It was totally worth it.

The actual day consisted of a 7:00 start to get the dress ironed, make up on and breakfast eaten. Then it was time to catch a train. Our train was unbelievingly late so our cosplay group had to make their way in two parts (sorry Laura) to the convention centre. I would’ve thought that we would have had many weird looks during our journey. But it was surprisingly uneventful. A couple of people told us how nice our dresses were and one little girl ran up to us and stared for about 5 minutes before getting embarrassed and running away.

The event we went to was London Film and Comic Con, which is a Showmasters event. We visited it in the summer and whilst we had a great time, it was so extremely hot that we left quite early. However, this season was completely different. Winter conventions are normally smaller, but compared to the summer con, this was tiny. Not that I was complaining, I really enjoyed being able to look at the stalls and make friends without having to fight for space.

The best thing about cosplaying as a Disney princess at conventions is the amount of children that come up and ask for photos. It really makes you feel special and that all of the hard work you put in was worth it. We met some really lovely children and their parents. Obviously the cutest children were the ones in cosplay, they literally made my day.

My favourite buy of the day was my copy of THOR #1. This is the newest in the Thor series (the one where Thor is now a woman) and I am so excited to get a copy! I also bought a Game of Thrones bracelet and some hair scrunchies (so expect a haul post soon).

My favourite thing about going to conventions is meeting a lot of people who have similar interests to me. This year we made a whole load of new friends and made some really exciting cosplay plans. Fingers crossed that I actually get to go next summer and manage to carry these out!

Here are some of my favourite images of us during the day:

Reading Plans for the Week

There’s only one book on my reading radar this week and it is City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare. This is the sixth and final instalment in The Mortal Instruments series. I trekked for 2 hours through London to visit the Piccadilly Waterstones and was so very happy to be able to purchase this. A good reward for unnecessary exercise I think. There are 733 pages in this book and it is about twice the size of the others in the series. This surprised me but as I have been waiting so long to read it, I don’t think it will take that long at all. I’m on page 112 already and I can already tell that it is going to be amazing. I think Cassandra Clare has really outdone herself on this finale. The only annoying thing about this book is that it is so large that it does not fit on my bookshelf. All of the other books in the series fit together nicely and this one will have to go on a different shelf by itself.

I'm in love with the cover art!

I may have lied a little, as I am in the middle of my GCSEs I am also going to re read Of Mice and Men. This is because I have an English Language exam tomorrow. Fingers crossed that I do okay.
