Hello friends. If you read my last post then you will know that I am currently educating you lovely lot in how to start reading comics. I left it just before I started to give you some recommendations. Today I present you with these.
Firstly here are those that I have read my self:
Young Avengers by Keiron Gillen This is technically part way through a series of comics. However, this is the most recent run with a whole new writer. The older issues are harder to get and more expensive. If you like LGBT+ characters and teens getting into trouble then you will love this. Loki makes and appearance, but not in his usual manner.
Hawkeye by Matt Fraction If you thought Hawkeye was awesome, that think again. This grumpy superhero has teamed up with Kate Bishop, a superhero who shares the same name as him. (She is also a main player in Young Avengers). Clint battles ex girlfriends and mafia bosses, alongside adopting a pet dog.
Runaways by Brian K Vaughn This unlikely group of friends join forces when they find out that they share a common enemy; their parents. Their parents are members of a super secret villain organisation who control a whole city. As the title suggests, they run away and try to work out what to do next. If you like humour and action, then this is for you.
Ms Marvel by G Willow Wilson Ms Marvel has been around for a while, but this new revival consists of her being a teenage Muslim girl from New Jersey. Yes, you heard me right. A teenage superhero, who is a girl, AND IS ALSO NOT WHITE. Can I get a hell yeah. If that doesn’t make you want to read it, then I have no idea what will.
Scott Pilgrim by Brian Lee O’Malley If you have seen the movie, then these are definitely a great place to start. They are hilarious, action packed and really adorable.
Here’s some that I haven’t read but have heard are excellent starting points:
